Day 1: Arrival, Jungle Immersion, and Night Safari
The journey begins with an 8:00 AM transfer from Saigon to the Katien Safari Lodge, arriving around 11:00 AM. After check-in and lunch, the afternoon features the first major adventure: a challenging four-hour, six-kilometer guided trek through the dynamic jungle, navigating from ancient trees to bamboo groves. This trek culminates at the Ta Lai Rice Fields, offering a spectacular sunset view and a cold drink before a UTV transfers guests back to the Lodge for a buffet dinner. The day concludes with an exhilarating one-hour Night Safari starting at 8:30 PM, where guides search for elusive nocturnal wildlife like weasels and deer.
Day 2: Epic Trek to Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake)
Day two is dedicated to a long and demanding trekking adventure. Guests embark on a challenging ten-kilometer journey from the Katien Safari Lodge to Bau Sau, also known as Crocodile Lake. The trail traverses varied jungle terrains, including sections with enormous trees and visible bomb craters from the American War, providing excellent opportunities for spotting birds and other animals. Upon reaching Bau Sau, guests can easily spot rare freshwater crocodiles. An early dinner prepared by rangers is enjoyed as the sun sets over the lake. The return is a unique experience: a five-kilometer guided night trek beginning at 6:30 PM, specifically designed to spot species active only after dark, before a UTV pickup at 8:30 PM transfers everyone back to the Lodge.
Day 3: Conservation Focus and Return to Saigon
Following breakfast, the morning is dedicated to a powerful conservation immersion. Guests are guided through the park's vital rescue and rehabilitation centers. This includes a scenic boat ride to the Endangered Primate Rescue Center on Dao Tien Island to observe the Yellow-cheeked Gibbons, followed by a visit to the Bear & Wild Cat Rescue Station to witness the recovery of animals like Sun Bears and Moon Bears. After this educational experience, guests return to the Katien Safari Lodge for a final hearty lunch. Following check-out, the comfortable return journey to Saigon begins, concluding the tour back at your hotel around 6:00 PM.
