Katien Sponsors 50 Solar-Powered Streetlights To Light Up Roads in Ta Lai

These days, several roads in Hamlet 4, Ta Lai Commune, Dong Nai City, are now lit at night by 50 newly installed solar-powered streetlights. The lights are placed around Ta Lai Bridge, the roads to Vam Ho Dam, Ma Village, and the C8 rice fields, making it easier and safer for local residents to travel after dark.

In response to a call for support from the Ta Lai Commune People’s Committee, Katien Safari, a brand under Oxalis, sponsored the project. Beyond improving rural infrastructure, the project reflects Katien Safari’s commitment to working alongside local communities and supporting tourism development linked with sustainable livelihoods in the Cat Tien area.

Ta Lai and The Need For Better Lighting on Local Roads

Ta Lai is home to several local communities, including the Ma and S’tieng people. Daily life here is closely connected to agriculture, forests, and community activities. The roads in the commune therefore serve more than daily travel. They also connect homes with rice fields, production areas, and community spaces.

However, street lighting is not yet evenly available across the local road network. On some roads farther from residential areas or the commune center, limited lighting can make travel more difficult after dark. Improving lighting has therefore been one of the infrastructure needs the local authorities are working to address.

Solar-powered streetlights offer a practical option for these roads. They use energy from the sun and do not need to be connected directly to the electricity grid, making them suitable for installation in areas outside the main residential centers.

The lighting system will make travel more convenient and safer for local residents.

Katien Safari and Its Connection With the Ta Lai Community

Through Katien Safari’s tourism activities, local people in Ta Lai Village have become part of the tourism operation. People with knowledge of the forest can work as porters, local guides, and hiking support staff. Others contribute through cooking, guest services, cultural experiences, and traditional handicrafts. These activities create opportunities for local knowledge, skills, and traditions to support livelihoods within the community.

This connection has also given Katien a closer understanding of local needs. When the Ta Lai Commune People’s Committee called for support to improve lighting on several roads, Katien chose to contribute 50 solar-powered streetlights to the community.

The installation was carried out quickly so that the roads could be lit up as soon as possible.
